Course Objectives
- to describe the processes involved in teaching mathematics (planning and preparation,
classroom management, assessment, and the establishment of
a positive learning environment
- to link appropriate learning theories to the teaching of mathematics
- to identify and apply ancillary resources as instructional
aides (in particular, information and communications technology - ICT)
- to demonstrate mastery of content in the scope and sequence of middle school and secondary school mathematics
- to explain the structure of state and national mathematics standards
- to present lessons, labs and activities as practice teaching exercises (OPO) and perform local
classroom visitations (30 hours practicum)
